Indian captain Rohit Sharma returned back to the duties in the shorter format with a 3-0 win against Afghanistan.

In a highly dramatic third T20I which featured a double super-over, India triumphed over Afghanistan at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Afghanistan matched India's total of 212 runs, triggering the first super-over. However, another super-over was required as both teams managed 16 runs each in the initial super-over. In the second super-over, Afghanistan could only score one run in response to India's 12-run target.

With this win, Rohit now has 42 wins as captain for India in T20Is. He becomes part of an exclusive roster of captains from full-member nations with the highest number of wins in the shorter format.

The list of most wins as a captain in T20Is features a closely contested race among four prominent leaders. Former Afghanistan captain Asghar Afghan holds the top position due to a better win percentage with an impressive 42 wins in 52 matches.

Rohit shares the position with Asghar Afghan, securing 42 wins in 54 matches. Sharma's leadership has been marked by strategic acumen and the ability to guide his team to success in the fast-paced format of T20 cricket.

Similarly, former Pakistan's captain, Babar Azam, also occupies the spot with 42 wins but in 71 matches. Azam's captaincy has seen Pakistan consistently perform well in T20Is, however, he was removed as captain after the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Sharing the same number of wins is England's Eoin Morgan, who has achieved 42 victories in 72 matches. Morgan's leadership has been crucial in England's T20 success.

Earlier, Rohit also became the first batter to make five men's T20I hundreds.

In the face of a batting collapse, Rohit Sharma showcased resilience and then aggressively pursued his century in the T20 format, setting himself apart as the inaugural player to achieve five centuries in men's T20Is.

Before this match, both Glenn Maxwell and Suryakumar Yadav had accumulated four centuries each in the format.

Leading men's T20I century-makers:

Rohit Sharma - 5

Suryakumar Yadav - 4

Glenn Maxwell - 4
